Transformative IT update for Liverty Housing

The challenge – increasing productivity across the organisation

Formerly known as Summer Housing, Liverty Housing is a pioneer in the specialist disability accommodation (SDA) sector. As a provider of long-term housing solutions, they support disabled Australians to have more choice and control in their lives.

While Liverty Housing was going through the process of rebranding from Summer Housing, which included moving their head office and launching a new website, they looked for ways to improve work performance. As their IT services provider, we were asked to recommend technology improvements that would help Liverty’s people get more done in less time.

Our solution – migration to Microsoft and help with relocation

As Liverty’s managed IT services provider, SSDL suggested a technology ‘spring clean’ to consolidate their IT infrastructure. Our core recommendation was that Liverty migrate from their existing mix Google systems to utilise the Microsoft suite. As well as providing Liverty’s employees with the productivity and collaboration benefits of Microsoft Office 365, Teams, Dynamics and SharePoint, the migration would eliminate the complexity of managing diverse platforms and devices.

This work coincided with the relocation of Liverty’s head office, so we lent a hand to ensure that technology aspects of the move were achieved with minimum downtime and disruption.

Once the new devices and solutions were implemented across all workstations, our engineers focused on cleaning up and consolidating various automation technologies used in the accommodation properties Liverty manages.

Results – a simplified ecosystem that supports operational efficiency

Liverty has successfully transitioned from a mix of Google systems to a unified and streamlined Microsoft ecosystem. Employees have adapted easily to the new environment and are enjoying the simplicity of using identical devices and applications. IT aspects of the head office relocation were executed seamlessly, so that ‘business as usual’ was achieved in the shortest amount of time.

SSDL's ongoing involvement in optimising automation technologies in Liverty's properties reflects our long-term commitment to supporting Liverty's mission of empowering disabled individuals to lead normal lives.

The SSDL team were flexible and open to our desire to utilise internal capability and the need to rebuild the structure of our systems, all while transitioning from Google to Microsoft hosting. The planning and preparation work they undertook enabled the transition in a timely manner and with minimal disruption to business operations. Afterwards, they were responsive and proactive with both the project team and individual staff in identifying and responding to issues that required resolution.
